Gimme Shelter | Playing For Change – Una koinè musicale straordinaria

It is in the shelter of each other that people live – Irish Proverb

Con questa intro che cita un proverbio irlandese si apre il video che è a dir poco emozionante, mirabile, affascinante.
Il concetto di shelter, cioè di riparo, di rifugio, di protezione reciproca, trasversale tra salti di età e passaggi di generazioni ma anche tra coevi e contemporanei, è la colonna vertebrale della proposta musicale di Playing for Change. Un elemento di evoluzione antropologica questo shelter/riparo reciproco che ha reso gli esseri umani più “esseri resistenti” e più “umani”. Ricostruzione tecnicamente precisa o meno di un processo evolutivo, rimane l’armonia di fondo, il mantra di vita e una immagine che questa interpretazione ha esaltato.
Musicisti da ogni dove, con un forte cuore black-caraibico ma anche la “guida” slide del chitarrista italiano Roberto Luti e la sua chitarra resofonica, una superband con gli statunitensi Greg Ellis,  Washboard Chaz, Tamika McClellan e Taj Mahal, dall’India Venkat, A. S. Ram e Seenu M.,  Roberto Luti appunto alla resofonica, dalla Giamaica le voci graffianti di Roselyn Williams, Sherieta Lewis e la batteria di Courtney “Bam” Diedrick e tastiera di Sean “Pow” Diedrick, la chitarra di Andrae Carter, dal Brasile Sidney Santos, dal Mali Mamady Ba Camara, dal Senegal Massamba Diop, dalla Sierra Leone i Refugee All Stars e dal Giappone la chitarra di Char e tutti a reinterpretare, con qualche efficace variante, una canzone simbolo dell’anti-guerra dei Roling Stones, Gimme shelter, sotto il vessillo di PFC, Playing For Change.
L’esercizio non è di mero stile, la musica “dal basso” o di strada si veste di una classe che è da prima e non certo da improvvisati periferici; non si lesinano emozioni nella sintesi di un aggiungersi di strumenti e voci, uno dietro l’altro.
Ne guadagnano il cuore e l’animo oltre che la mente e le orecchie.
