Well, another piece of Italian Automotive Design is going to be acquired by a (foreign) Automotive Producer.
We’re talking about rumors, at this moment officially not confirmed, concerning a deal between Pininfarina and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., India’s largest maker of sport-utility vehicles.
Actually, according to rumors from Bloomberg in the link above, Mahindra is closing in on the purchase of the company.
Pininfarina is a wellknown independent Italian car design firm and coachbuilder in Cambiano, founded by Giovanni Battista “Pinin” (short name of Giuseppino, in Piemontese dialect) Farina in 1930 and is still owned by Pininfarina family (77% of shares).

It will be interesting to follow the evolution of the situation, mainly the effect that the acquisition can have, with regard to the design, style and potential new strategies of brand development.
